Technical sheet
What it is for
At transfer points material falls onto the belt and tends to escape over the belt edges.
Double-Lip Skirting is fixed to the skirtboard with a metal skirt clamp and works on the free belt edge with two sealing lines. The result is an effective seal that controls spillage and dust emissions, without the frequent maintenance traditional designs require.
Features and design
Features and benefits
-
01 · Sealing
Double seal
Double sealing in a single rubber piece, easy to install, that controls spillage at transfer points.
-
02 · Fit
Gravity adjustment
The second seal settles onto the belt by gravity whatever the change in inclination.
-
03 · Dust
Pollution control
Excellent containment of the finest dust; a proven innovation for handling fine material.
-
04 · Compound
Balanced formulation
Abrasion, hardness and composition in balance: it does not damage the belt and wears gradually.
-
05 · Formats
Two formats
114 mm (4.5") or 165 mm (6.5") high, depending on the free belt edge available for installation.
-
06 · Supply
10-metre roll
Rubber seal in 10 m rolls (13 × height × 10,000 mm) for continuous skirt runs.

Cross-section · reference diagram
- Wear liner or guide plate Inner side, in contact with the material.
- Skirtboard plate Skirt structure to which the skirting is fixed.
- Double-lip skirting Rubber body with a first lip on the belt and a second sealing lip.
- Skirt clamp Bolted bracket and V-clamp that press the skirting against the skirtboard. For reference, not included.
- Belt The free edge is the strip of belt available between the skirting and the belt edge.
1st seal: main lip in direct contact with the belt. 2nd seal: gravity-adjusting lip that reinforces the seal on the belt.

| CYG0228GD | 10 m double-lip skirting · 6.5" | 165 (6.5") | 13 | 20 | 25 | 10 m roll |
Strip format: 13 × height × 10,000 mm (thickness × height × length). Codes refer to the rubber seal; the skirt clamp is not included.
Free belt edge requirement
Free edge required by each format depending on the belt trough angle.
| Trough angle | 114 mm · 4.5" (CYG0217GD) | 165 mm · 6.5" (CYG0228GD) |
|---|---|---|
| 0° | — | 80 mm |
| 20° | 65 mm | 100 mm |
| 35° | 90 mm | 110 mm |
| 45° | 95 mm | 115 mm |
— : no value given for flat belts (0°) in the 114 mm format. The free edge is the strip of belt available between the skirting and the belt edge.

How to choose
- Measure the free belt edge available at the transfer point and the belt trough angle.
- Choose the format whose requirement for that angle is equal to or less than the free edge available.

Success stories
Success story 01
Dry material and dust at transfer points
Plant in India · conveyor system
Problem
- Severe spillage problems in the conveyor system.
- Dry material due to the typically hot climate: heavy dust build-up at transfer points.
- Segmented skirting could not ensure a proper seal under these conditions.
Solution
- Double-lip skirting installed on the belt system for better sealing.
- Immediate supply with technical commissioning for plant staff.
Result
- A much cleaner, dust-free transfer area; the difference is clearly visible.
- Satisfied plant users.
- The plant ordered double-lip skirting for all its critical conveyors.
Success story 02
Spillage when processing fine material
Mineral processing plant · India
Problem
- Serious spillage in the fine material processing area.
- Segmented sealing had to be adjusted piece by piece and often failed to seal between the belt and the skirtboard.
Solution
- Detailed on-site study of operating parameters; installation issues were reported to engineering.
- Installation on one conveyor, agreed with the customer, with fast supply.
- Validation: existing spillage was cleaned up and performance was monitored for a week.
Result
- Excellent spillage control from start-up.
- A long-standing problem was solved; satisfied plant engineers.
- A proposal was requested for all plant belts with similar problems.
